USHER Joins Protégé JayDon on "Lullaby (mega remix)"
R&B Legend Teams Up With New mega Signee as Viral Hit Gets an All-Star Rework.
Since exploding onto the scene, the artist formerly known as JD McCrary—now simply JayDon—has been carving out a space for R&B authenticity, catching the attention of industry giants like Antonio “L.A.” Reid and, critically, his idol, USHER. The Diamond-selling icon was so impressed by the 18-year-old triple threat that he co-signed him to mega, the label USHER co-founded with Reid.
Now, the mentorship moves to the microphone. JayDon delivers a career-defining moment with the release of “Lullaby (mega remix)”, out now via Zoo/mega/gamma, which features a monumental appearance from USHER himself, alongside mega labelmate, Paradise.
The mega remix, produced by GRAMMY-nominated hitmaker Harv (”Peaches”) and penned by Felisha King (Cherish), dials up the emotional stakes. USHER steps in with one of his trademark, deeply confessional verses, while JayDon elevates his vocal performance to match his mentor’s intensity. Paradise, who was featured on an earlier, Asian-market remix (also featuring Jay Park and LOUIS of LNGSHOT), grounds the track with a melodic new verse.
This is a symbolic passing of the torch. USHER, who sees JayDon and Paradise as worthy successors, is actively using his platform to “bring real R&B back” (Billboard). JayDon, who earlier sampled USHER on the standout single “I’ll Be Good” (2.2 million views), has now earned the ultimate co-sign.
With a debut EP featuring production from Andre Harris and Blaq Tuxedo, a sold-out headline show at The Echo, and the King of R&B on his first breakout hit, JayDon is quickly proving why he is deemed a “Generation Next” artist.
