Sylo Drops Alt-R&B Banger 'Seraphine'
The Korean-Canadian star channels the 'witchy' energy of Mexico City on his first independent statement.
Sylo is done playing polite. The alt-R&B artist, long praised for his intimate vocal delivery and pristine sound (earning him slots at NPR Tiny Desk and COLORSxSTUDIOS), has just dropped “Seraphine,” a track that swaps his usual restraint for a heavy, low-end swagger.
Co-produced with Bobbing and Cole Williams (who’ve anchored tracks for Still Woozy and The Hails), the single is built around a relentless, grooving bassline that provides an immediate punch. Sylo’s signature voice drips over the top, calling out a “Seraphine” who is less lover, more siren.
“Seraphine, so witchy and mysterious. The beauty in her feminine intuition, something you’ll always chase but can never truly have.”
The track is the first clear signal of Sylo’s new, post-relocation sound currently based in Mexico City and it feels sharper, darker, and more confident. This new edge aligns perfectly with the news that his management, Muk Posh, is now stepping up as a record label, making “Seraphine” a powerful opening shot in this new, independent era.
Sylo will take this brooding energy on the road for the “the harder you try Tour,” kicking off in mid-January, including a festival stop at Chicago’s Tomorrow Never Knows Fest. With opening support from hevel, J.Y.N., and Monét Ngo, and a handful of dates with Latin R&B hero Jesse Baez in February, Sylo is poised to translate his studio intimacy into a global, high-energy live show that will solidify his position as a truly independent R&B force.
