PRISM Curator of the Month—Brandon Jerman & His Latest Track "Waves"
Brandon Jerman: Bringing Queer Artists to the Forefront as PRISM’s Curator of the Month
Brandon Jerman, this month’s PRISM curator, is making it his mission to shine a light on both his own music and the trailblazing work of fellow queer artists. His newest single, Waves, captures the emotional turbulence of being strung along by someone, only to reclaim your peace and move on. “Waves is about that moment when you finally let go and say, ‘I deserve better,’” Jerman explains. It’s a track that speaks to anyone who’s ever had to navigate the ups and downs of love and find their way back to themselves.
But Jerman isn’t just sharing his personal story—he’s using his platform to introduce a new generation of queer talent. In his PRISM playlist, he spotlights artists such as Derrick Lumiere, Kemmii, GioFromDaBlock, Roseberry, and Noel Niks. For Jerman, it’s important that these voices are heard and celebrated. “Queer artists are creating some of the most exciting music out there right now,” he says. “I want to make sure people are listening.”
On October 11, Jerman will release his next single, Miss Me, which delves into the universal yearning to be remembered after a relationship ends. The song is another example of his ability to turn personal experiences into deeply relatable music. “It’s about wanting to leave an emotional mark, hoping your absence is felt long after you’ve walked away,” Jerman shares. The track is a powerful follow-up to Waves, continuing the emotional journey that has become a hallmark of his music.
As PRISM’s curator, Jerman is more focused than ever on uplifting queer talent, using his platform to highlight artists who are breaking boundaries and challenging the status quo. His playlist is a celebration of the diverse voices shaping the future of music, and he hopes it will encourage listeners to dive deeper into the rich landscape of queer artistry. “It’s about more than just creating music—it’s about making space for queer stories and experiences to be heard,” Jerman says.
