Michael Marcagi has a gift—not just for songwriting, but for turning life’s quiet insecurities into anthems that make you feel seen. On his latest release, “Humbling,” the Cincinnati-born artist holds up a mirror to the kind of comparison spiral we all fall into—one moment scrolling through baby announcements, the next wondering if we missed something.
“I wrote it to poke fun at myself,” Marcagi says. “Being on the road, it’s easy to feel like I’m standing still, even when I’m not.”
But “Humbling” isn’t just confessional—it’s classic Marcagi: steeped in folk-Americana warmth, rising from acoustic introspection into a cathartic chorus of layered guitars, upright bass, piano, and pulse-driving percussion. Co-written with songwriting powerhouses Amy Allen and Dan Wilson and produced by longtime collaborator David Baron, the track builds on the honest, blue-collar storytelling that’s earned Marcagi comparisons to artists like Noah Kahan and The Lumineers—both of whom he’s now shared stages with.
Coming off the critically praised Midwest Kid EP and breakout hit “Scared to Start” (1.3B+ streams and counting), “Humbling” continues the rise of a small-town songwriter who’s never stopped thinking big. And with a jam-packed touring schedule—including a Masonic Lodge headline show in LA and a massive 2026 EU/UK tour—Marcagi’s just beginning to redefine what it means to be a “late bloomer.”
