As we celebrate Pride, AZARIAN is thrilled to spotlight 15 non-mainstream LGBTQIA+ (or identifying) singers, songwriters, and producers who are making waves in the music industry. This year, we’re highlighting an array of talented artists whose work reflects the vibrant diversity and profound creativity within the community. For far too long, LGBTQIA+ artists have faced a brutal double standard in the music industry. Coming out could mean sacrificing mainstream appeal, with limited airplay, pigeonholing into niche genres, and pressure to conform.
While progress is undeniable, the road ahead is long. Securing festival slots, award nominations, and lucrative sponsorships on equal footing remains a challenge. LGBTQIA+ artists still have to fight harder to be seen and heard for their talent, not their identity. These are the voices you need to hear in 2024:
