Forever Spinning: 2Pac, Janet Jackson, and Radiohead Lead the 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame Class
From 2Pac’s G-Funk Grit to Janet Jackson’s Pop Revolution: Meet the 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame Inductees.
The Recording Academy has officially pulled back the curtain on its 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame inductees, and the list is a masterclass in sonic architecture. From the G-funk grit of the West Coast to the cerebral glitch of British alt-rock, this year’s 14 additions—nine albums and five singles—prove that true greatness doesn’t just age; it evolves.
To qualify for this hallowed ground, a recording must be at least 25 years old and possess “qualitative or historical significance.” This year’s crop does more than meet the criteria—it defines it.
Leading the pack is 2Pac’s magnum opus, All Eyez On Me, a double-disc titan that cemented Shakur’s status as a global icon. Joining him in the pantheon of cultural shifts is Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814, an industrial-pop manifesto that remains the blueprint for social consciousness on the dance floor.
The induction also leans into the experimental and the ethereal. Radiohead’s OK Computer—the album that predicted our modern digital anxiety—makes its well-deserved entrance alongside Alice Coltrane’s spiritual jazz landmark Journey in Satchidananda and the haunting acoustic folk of Nick Drake’s Pink Moon.
“Each selection reflects the creativity, craft, and cultural impact that recorded music can carry across decades,” says Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy. “We’re honored to help preserve these works... so their legacies continue to inspire generations to come.”
The 2026 celebrates the heavy hitters of the 90s; it digs deep into the roots of American music. The list spans nearly a century, honoring:
The Roots: Bertha “Chippie” Hill’s 1920s blues staple “Trouble in Mind.”
The Pioneers: The Soul Stirrers’ “Jesus Gave Me Water” and the genre-blurring “Orange Blossom Special” by The Rouse Brothers.
The Icons: Selena’s Amor Prohibido, a pivotal moment for Latin music in the mainstream, and the golden-era hip-hop precision of Eric B. & Rakim’s “Paid In Full.”
The celebration kicks off on May 8, 2026, at the iconic Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The Grammy Hall of Fame Gala will honor these legends with a night of tributes and live performances (lineup TBA).
With these 14 additions, the Hall now boasts a total of 1,179 recordings, curated by a committee of industry luminaries and ratified by the Academy’s National Board of Trustees.
